Hi all,

I’ve upgraded Condensation Land to Diva r13861 — this is the diva distribution release corresponding to Opensim 0.7.0.2, and it incorporates a two cute new logos (one saying “Diva Wifi”, and another one that says “Powered by Opensimulator”) and a number of enhancements to the Wifi pages. You can read a description of the most important changes in Diva’s article, or, if you have an account at Condensation Land, try it by yourself here.

Opensim 0.7.0.2 is “a minor bug-fix release”, so that things should work more smoothly that with r13558. As always, if you encounter any problem please email me.

Of course this is due to the fact that few regions have publicly enabled hypergrid yet — we’re a home-based, non-for-profit mini-world, created during our free time. Still, it’s nice to be there.

P.S.: I’m ashamed to add that we’ve been in Hyperica since at least March the 18, and I’ve not been able to report it till now, RL has been far too demanding lately… *sighs*

I’ve upgraded Condensation Land to use release 13558 of the Diva distribution (D2). R13558 is based on Opensim 0.7.0.1 post fixes, and it incorporates all the changes and enhancements of Opensim 0.7, too numerous to list here.

D2 adds a great web new interface called “Wifi” to Opensim — you might need to redefine Condensation Land in your grid manager to make use of it. Simply open your grid manager, delete any reference to Condensation if there is any, click the “Add new grid” button, enter anything in the “Grid name” field (it will be filled automatically), and type “http://condensationland.com:9000″ (without the quotes) in the “Login URI” field, then press “Get Grid info” and “Apply”.

The new web interface can be accessed at http://condensationland.com:9000/wifi — you will be able to change your password and your email, and you can do some simple forms of inventory management from the web.

Step 1: Defining the “Condensation Land” grid.

First of all, we have to define a custom grid for “Condensation Land” — Second Inventory comes preloaded with the most known grids, but Condensation is not one of them. To define Condensation to Second Inventory, we have to:

1.a) Start Second Inventory:

You should get a screen similar to the following:

Don’t attempt to log in at this stage! We have to define Condensation first!

1.b) Press the “Preferences” button

You will get a panel like the following:

1.c) Select the “Custom Grids” tab

You will most probably get an empty list — in my case it shows an entry for the Rezzable Private Grid.

1.d) Press the “Add Grid” button

1.e) Fill in the details

In the “Short name” field, write “Condensation”; in “Grid Name”, “Condensation Land”, in “Login URI”, “http://condensationland.com:9000″; ensure that the “Grid Engine” dropdown has the “Opensim” option selected; leave all the remaining fields as per their default (as shown in the image).

1.f) Press “Confirm”

You will get back to the “Custom grids” panel, which will now show a new entry for Condensation Land.

1.g) Press the “Close” button

We are now back to the main Second Inventory screen:

Now we can try to connect to Condensation Land.

Step 2: Connecting to the Condensation Land grid

2.a) Selecting “Condensation Land”

Click the “Grid” dropdown. You will see a new entry reading “Condensation Land” (at the end). Select it:

2.b) Fill in your log in details

Enter your avatar name (if you’re using the multi-avatar version) and your password for the Condensation Land grid (not your Second Life password). Choose your start location if you wish.

2.c) Press the “Connect” button

After some seconds you will be connected to the Condensation Land grid!

Step 3: Upload your stuff to the Condensation Land grid

3.a) Select an item you want to upload

Click your avatar name in the “RL inventory” tab — a small “+” sign will appear. Click it. You will see an inventory with the stuff you have transferred. Click the small “+” signs until you have identified the item you want to upload:

3.b) Right click the item, select “Restore”

A new panel will appear:

3.c) Click “Start Restore”

A progress screen will appear, and after a short while you will get a completion report panel:

You can dismiss this panel.

Step 4: Repeat step 3 for all the items you want to upload

Step 5: Log off from Second Inventory

Press the “Disconnect” button, then close the Second Inventory window.

Step 6: Clear your viewer’s cache

If you don’t do that, the items you have just uploaded can take several hours to show in your Condensation Land inventory

That’s it!

You can now log in normally to Condensation Land, and you will find all the stuff you have uploaded in your inventory

I’m getting a lot of questions about how to visit the Mirror Worlds exhibition. Here’s how:

Method 1: Via the hypergrid

(If you don’t know what the hypergrid is, try method 2 below).

1. Go to  a region which is hypergrid-enabled.
2. Open your map, and in the region name field type “condensationland.com:9000″.
3. Press enter.
4. Wait for the “Condensation Land” region to appear in your map.
5. Teleport.

Please keep in mind that the Condensation Land grid is centered at 7789,7789. If your home grid is centered too far away from 7789,7889 (i.e., > 4096 in any direction) your teleport may not work. You will also need to have a home position defined to ensure that the teleport completes successfully. Finally, at the moment of this writing we are running the Diva distribution of Opensim, r11766.

Method 2: Getting an account at Condensation Land

We normally don’t give out accounts at Condensation Land, but for a limited period of time we’ll be creating free account for people wanting to visit Mirror Worlds. Please email me at zonja DOT capalini ATSIGN gmail DOT com with your first name, last name and a password of your choice; I will create an account for you as soon as I have the time.

Once you have your account created, follow these instructions to log in.

We are now running release 11766 of the Diva distribution. As noted in this post by Diva, this release includes a very nice mechanism by which you can add content to the Opensim Library with maximum ease. I’ve added all the freebies provided by Diva (thanks! :-)), and I’ll be adding shortly other freebies prepared by Favio Piek.
